1. Poison Pill
Twitter's
board of directors says it adopted a so-called "poison pill" defense
in order to protect the social media platform from coercive or unfair takeover
tactics
Are
poison pills good or bad for stockholders?
The poison
pills have the potential of damaging the long-term value of the shares issued
by the business. It dilutes the overall holdings of the stock for existing
shareholders as well and they have to buy additional shares to balance their
portfolio value.
Poison pills
allow existing shareholders the right to purchase additional shares at a
discount, effectively diluting the ownership interest of a new, hostile party.
2. Parboiled rice
The Centre
has said it will stop the purchase of excess parboiled rice, of which Telangana
is a major producer.
Disadvantages:
- The rice becomes darker and may smell unpleasant due to prolonged soaking.
- Besides, setting up a parboiling rice milling unit requires a higher investment than a raw rice milling unit
Advantages:
ü Parboiling makes rice tougher. This reduces the chances of the rice kernel breaking during milling.
ü Parboiling also increases the nutrient value of the rice.
ü Parboiled rice has a higher resistance to insects and fungi.

the world's rarest marine mammal, is on the edge of extinction.

4. World Heritage Day
Every year, 18th
April is celebrated as International Day for Monuments and Sites,

approved the recognition of two communities of Odisha viz., Venkatraipur
and Noliasahi as Tsunami Ready Communities.

5. Cyber Protection
According to
a recent report it was found that, Maharashtra was the most targeted state
in India.

Security Council of India (DSCI) headed by Lt General Rajesh Pant.

6. Ukraine has requested US assistance in designating Russia as a “state sponsor of terrorism” and condemn its action.

There are
currently three statutes that authorise the Secretary of State to designate a
foreign government for repeatedly providing support for acts of international
terrorism:

- ü Arms Export Control Act (AECA)
- ü Export Controls Act of 2018
Of the above
given three statutes, only the AECA recognise suspicious activities as
part of the definition while none of the Acts defines the term “international
terrorism”.
7. Telangana krishna water Dispute
The
Telangana Government has requested the Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS) one more
time to refer its complaint made under Section 3 of the Inter State River Water
Disputes Act, 1956, to the existing Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal-II or
Brijesh Kumar Tribunal immediately to finalise the fair and equitable
share of Telangana in Krishna waters.
